Our Origin Story

As you may have already imagined, the story of how Austin’s Compassionate Enterprises (ACE) came to be is a tragic one to say the least. But as a result of this horrific and unfortunate tragedy, Founder Tina Campbell discovered a new purpose and focus in life.

In 2013 a terribly car accident left Tina’s five year old son Austin a quadriplegic on a ventilator. Tina had to fight and work hard to find medical equipment and supplies for Austin. This is often times a very difficult, if not sometimes impossible thing to do living in Alaska where resources and options are very limited.

As a result of these difficulties, Tina was inspired to start an organization where she and her son could make a difference to those who are also facing unfortunate medical challenges. Austin’s Compassion Exchange, more commonly known as ACE Lending Closet, was created in 2015. However, the need for medical supplies and equipment within the community was so great, that the organization quickly grew from a literal closet, to a garage, then a garage plus several conex units, and now a large 40ftx80ft shop has been added in order to accommodate the growing needs of the community.
